~ National Honor Society ~

Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. Founded by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, its purpose is to recognize secondary school students who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in the areas of leadership, character, scholarship and service. The LVR Faculty Council selects new members and invites those students to be active participants at the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony to be held each spring.
To be eligible for consideration for election to this elite group, a student must be a member of the junior class or senior class, have a cumulative average of at least a 90 and have been in attendance for a period equivalent to one semester in Lenape Valley. Once students have met the minimum academic criteria, selection to membership is based on a review of their leadership, service and character by a Faculty Council. The entire faculty also participates in the selection process by submitting evaluation sheets for each eligible student. Students who have been found in violation of Lenape Valley's honor policy are never eligible for membership.
Once inducted, each member has certain responsibilities to the NHS, school, and community. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintain the academic standard 90 grade point average.
Continue to exhibit exemplary character, leadership and service.
Participate in the NHS Blood Bank, our annual service project.
Complete a personal service project.
Participate in one fund raising project per year.
Participate in all NHS sponsored activities such as ushering at special LVR events, tutoring program, morning announcements, etc.
