The CSPA, associated with Columbia University, critiques college, high school, and middle school publications and awards them Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals. Magazines are judged on their organization, content, and design.
Based on exceptional work by the staff and contributors in these three areas, Mind Carpenter received a score of 945 out of 1000 points, placing it in the first-place category. In addition, the magazine was awarded two of three All-Columbian Honors in the areas of content and design.
Danielle Pruent and Dan Hock served as editors-in-chief last year, and Ryan Tighe was art editor. Other editorial staff included Maddie McGarrity, Marybeth Matlack, Hannah Mueller, Mike Claypool, Marissa Tanner, and Andrew Volk. Mrs. Judith Grow and Mrs. Marta Rivara advised the staff.
Produced annually, Mind Carpenter publishes students' poetry, prose, and artwork. Last year's winning issue was called "Vipashaya," a Sanskrit word meaning "insight" or "supreme seeing."
