Mr. Lusto, meet Porky the Pig
| This is our pig before we attacked
it. |
You can see the thymus gland easily
under the sternohyoid muscle in this picture. |
A good view of the mylohyoid which
elevates the hyoid bone and base of tongue while swallowing. |
These are the neck and throat muscles. The sternocephalic is a thick but narrow muscle extending obliquely form the mastoid process tot eh sternum along the neck. The mylohyoid muscle parallels the bottom aspect of the chin. The Diagastric runs vertically next to the mylohyoid. | The superficial pectoral us a thin flat
band of muscle that arises from the sternum just anterior to the posterior deep
pectoral.
|
| The superficial pectoral's action is to
draw the scapula forward and inferiorly. |
Muscles of the Hind limb which include the Gastrocnemius (largest muscle of the shank), Peroneus Longus (lateral surface of the tibia), and the Peroneus Tertius (anterior side of the tibia). The Peroneus muscles are long thins muscles that arise form the proximal to the distal femur and run to tarsal insertions. | Another view of the hind limb muscles
including the tensor fasciae latae. This muscle is wide and thin at its superior end where
it originates on the iliac crest and narrows to a long tendon that inserts in at the
fascia latae. Its action is to tighten the fascia latae. |
A view of the thigh muscles showing the
gluteus medius and Iliacus. The gluteus medius is a thick muscle lying posterior and deep
to the tensor fascia latae. |
|
| This shows the triceps brachii both long and lateral heads. This muscle is a large fleshy muscle covering the posterior aspect and most of the side of the humerus. | This is a good view of the jugular vein
under the sternocephalic which drains the head. |
This picture includes triceps brachii. This muscle arises from three heads which originate from the humerus and scapula and insert jointly in to the olecranon process of the ulna. | Another picture of the neck muscles now including the sternohyoid. This muscle is a narrow strap-like band united to its partner that runs along the midline of the ventral aspect of the neck. |
