• Art

    The Art Department offers students the opportunity to think and act creatively and to express themselves through a variety of media. The department addresses the following objectives for student learning:

    • The development of visual and tactile perception of form, color, and texture;
    • The development of creative expression and communication of ideas and
    feelings through images, symbols, and forms;
    • The development of aesthetic judgment, including the criteria for appraising visual forms and for arriving at personal preferences and opinions.

    All students can benefit from the experience of expressive and spatial learning that an art course provides. Students who are planning to major in art should include the sequence of workshop courses in their yearly schedules. Instructors of these courses will assist students with the preparation of the portfolio required for post-secondary study.
