A huge thank you to the Lake Hopatcong Foundation for hosting their high school program. Ms. Beck’s Environmental and Earth Science students studied macroinvertebrates in the Musconetcong River and conducted water sampling and testing from the floating classroom on Lake Hopatcong.

Battle of the Barristers Returns to Brookdale Park with a Legacy in Motion
BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The annual Battle of the Barristers charity softball game, hosted by Genova Burns LLC, returns this Thursday at 12:15 PM at Brookdale Park—and this year’s event carries special meaning. Longtime coach of the Genova Burns softball team and retired Lenape Valley educator David D’Olivo will be on the field once again, this time alongside his son, Dave D’Olivo Jr., who joins the coaching ranks. The Battle of the Barristers benefits the Newark Day Center’s Fresh Air Fund, a cause that has raised tens of thousands of dollars for children’s programs over the years. In 2024, Genova Burns hosted the tournament and brought in roughly $87,000 for the Fresh Air Fund. Genova Burns is proud to support the mission, while also fostering a culture of teamwork, mentorship, and family beyond the courtroom. Come out Thursday to cheer them on, support a great cause, and celebrate a remarkable legacy in education and coaching. All are welcome!

The Lenape Valley jazz band received praise and appraisal from adjudicators at June's State Teen Arts festival at Middlesex Community College, having earned the honor with their performance at the county festival in May.
